A Nu Start

So I am starting this blog with the intention of diving deeper into the world of Design and Illustration than I ever have before. I have spent many years digesting content and have just now decided I should share what I've learned along the way.

My hopes are that I contribute to this thing regularly so that it can be a source of new images and inspirations for others.

First up is Edward Teach, or "The Pirate formally known as Blackbeard", and his ships flag. Eschewing the typical Skull and Crossbones and opting instead for an image that threw me at first.

The heart, the spear, the king ghoul with the blank expression, the glass of liquor to toast the devil. I think it very succinctly tells other ships that no good will come from a meeting with Blackbeard. I think it is a rather successful design and I love the simplicity, probably an effect of the medium, but still. So good.
